Actos 15Mg Tablet
Indications / Uses : Treatment of NIDDM patients who do not sufficiently respond to dietary treatment & exercise therapy alone or in combination therapy w/ sulfonylureas or a-glucosidase inhibitors, metformin & insulin.
Administration : May be taken with or without food: Take before or after breakfast.
Contraindications : Cardiac failure or history of cardiac failure; severe ketosis, diabetic coma or pre-coma, type I DM; severe hepatic or renal dysfunction; severe infections or trauma, pre- or post-op; active bladder cancer. Woman of childbearing potential. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions : Cardiac disease eg MI, angina pectoris, cardiomyopathy & hypertensive cardiac diseases; hepatic or renal dysfunction; pituitary or adrenal insufficiency; malnutrition, starvation, irregular or deficiency of food intake, weakness; extreme muscle movement. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Concomitant therapy w/ other antidiabetic agents. Discontinue use if edema, abrupt body wt gain, symptoms of cardiac failure are observed & if rhabdomyolysis occurs. Perform periodic exam eg urinalysis, ECG & liver function tests. Avoid long-term use. History of bladder cancer, aggravated diabetic retinopathy. Monitor periodically blood & urinary sugar levels; for symptoms of diabetic retinopathy, fluid retention & development of heart failure. Perform chest x-ray, CT or serum marker immediately after fever, cough, dyspnea or abnormal chest sounds. Childn. Elderly.
